Sophomore Amanda Baney hit two homeruns to help the Wildcats go 2-0
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Sophomore Amanda Baney (Williamsport) notched five hits including two homeruns to help the Pennsylvania College of Technology go 2-0 in the final day of the Snowbird Softball tournament. The Wildcats defeated local rival Penn State Harrisburg 4-2 and followed it up with a 7-2 victory over Southern Vermont College.
Penn College (2-6) jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a single from sophomore Michelle Goodling (Renovo) in the first inning against Harrisburg. Goodling followed up in the fourth with a homerun. She finished the game with two hits and three RBIs. Penn College scored one more in the fifth to seal the victory. Baney notched two hits in the game.
The Wildcats put together some strong offense against Vermont with a season high 12 hits. Baney put two solo bombs over the fence in the first and sixth innings. In the fourth, freshman Alison Beitz (Millville), sophomore amber Eck (Williamsport) and senior Trisha Moser (Watsontown) each notched an RBI.
Next up, Penn College will host Lehigh Carbon Community College on Sat., March 19 for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
