The Wildcats opened up 2011 with two wins

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team kicked off its 2011 season notching two wins against SUNY Ulster and Catholic University (JV) down in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Wildcats won 6-3 against Ulster and 12-0 against Catholic. Junior Skylar Gingrich (Lititz) led the offense cracking three doubles and six RBIs on the day.

Penn College (2-0) started off the day against Ulster. Junior Harrison Myers (Lebanon) notched the win pitching four innings with four strikeouts and giving up one earned run. The team scored five first inning runs. Sophomore Ryan Weachock (Pottsville) went 2-3 with an RBI. Gingrich racked up a double and two RBIs.

In the nightcap against Catholic, freshmen James Funk (Washington Boro) and Jared Bull (Jacobus) combined for a no-hitter and nine strikeouts. It was another five-run first inning capped off by seven runs in the fifth. Gingrich stayed hot at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs.

Next, the Wildcats will take on Olney College on March 8 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
