The Wildcats ended the spring break tournament 4-1
MYRLTE BEACH, S.C. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team suffered its first loss of the season against Owens College (Ohio) 12-4. The Wildcats finished the spring break tournament an impressive 4-1. “Overall it was a good tournament,” said head coach Chris Howard. “We played some good baseball and I’m happy with how it turned out.”
Penn College was up 2-1 in the first thanks to a two-run double from sophomore Ryan Weachock (Pottsville). The third inning proved to be the tide changer as Owens scored seven. The Wildcat pitching staff gave up three walks and hit a batter in the inning.
The Wildcats scored their final two runs of the game in the fourth. Freshman Philip Carnevale (Carteret, N.J.) hit a double to score freshman Joshua Longsderff (Columbia) who reached on a walk. Later, Weachock scored on a pass ball.
The Penn College pitchers had a rough day with seven walks. “We were dragging today,” Howard said. “We can’t walk that many and expect to win.”
Next up, the Wildcats will travel to King’s College for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Wed. March 17.
