Spring 2011 Softball: Senior Day PSU Mont Alto

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team split a Penn State University Athletic Conference doubleheader with Penn State Mont Alto Thursday. The Wildcats won the first game 4-2 giving the undefeated Lions their first loss of the year and lost the second game 12-4. Senior Tiffany Diehm (Mohnton) had three RBIs and recorded a victory on the mound for the Wildcats.
In game one, down 1-0, Penn College (7-7, 3-1 PSUAC) scored three in the second off of two hits including an RBI double from freshman Chelsea Hewitt (Shippensburg). The Lions came back and scored a run in the top of the third to bring it to within one. Diehm hit an RBI single in the fourth to give the team some cushion for the victory.
Diehm finished the game with three RBI and notched the win on the mound with five strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Errors were the problem in game two as the Wildcats committed seven giving up nine unearned runs in the game. Sophomore Desiree Buffington (Pillow) went 2-3 while sophomore Amanda Baney (Williamsport) had a hit with two RBI.
Penn College next travels to Penn State Harrisburg Fri., April 15 for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
