Spring 2011 Softball: PSU Fayette

Junior Erin Bannon had two hits and an RBI in game two
UNIONTOWN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team split a conference doubleheader with Penn State Fayette Wednesday. The Wildcats took game one 8-5 but were just edged out 2-1 in the closer. Senior Tiffany Diehm (Mohnton) recorded the win and the loss and had 13 strikeouts between the two contests. Penn College finishes the regular season 13-11 overall and 9-3 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
In the opener, tied at 5-5 in the seventh, the game went into international tiebreaker. Freshman Sabrina Reynolds (Muncy) hit an RBI sacrifice fly followed by an RBI single from senior Trisha Moser (Watsontown). The Wildcats scored the third run of the inning off an error and took an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the inning where they shut out Fayette. Diehm recorded six strikeouts while Reynolds, Moser and sophomore Michelle Goodling (Renovo) each had two hits in the game.
Penn College scored its only run of game two in the first inning off a sacrifice fly from junior Erin Bannon (Williamsport). The Lions came back to tie in the bottom. Four scoreless innings followed until the Lions put one more in the sixth to take the lead.
Diehm recorded seven strikeouts while Bannon had two hits.
Penn College travels to Penn State Altoona for the PSUAC Playoffs on Fri., Apr 29. Time and opponent are still to be determined.
