2010-11 Wrestling: NCWA National Championships-Mercer University Day One

Tyler Myers and Derek Anderson competed in the NCWA national tournament
MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) and freshman Derek Anderson (Ellsworth) competed in day one of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships in Macon, Ga. Myers went 3-1 on the day and is still alive in the consolation bracket while Anderson had a tough draw and went 0-2.
In the 157lb class, Myers made quick work of Howard Barr from University of Central Florida pinning him at 34 seconds into the first period. A tougher bout followed against University of Connecticut’s Michael Battinelli. He lost 11-3 dropping to the consolation bracket. He had another pin, this time against Glenn Van Moffaert from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute at 3:57. In Myer’s final bout of the day, he defeated University of Colorado – Boulder’s Casey Myers 7-2.
In the 197lb bracket, Anderson lost by decision 7-2 against Jackie Miller of Middle Tennessee State University. In the consolation bracket, he lost by fall in the first period to Yevgeniy Sorvskiy of San Jose State University ending his tournament run.
Myers will continue on to day two of the tournament taking on Vincent Camps of Slippery Rock on Friday, March 11.
