Three Wildcats placed in the individual competition at DuBois
DUBOIS, Pa. – In day two of the USCAA Championships at Penn State – DuBois, the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team took home some hardware with three Wildcat wrestlers earning accolades. Following Friday’s dual meet competition, Saturday’s events focused on individual wrestlers.
Having three of their wrestlers succumb to injuries, the Wildcats entered freshmen Derek Anderson (Ellsworth), Ed Turner (Home) and Robert Burns (Schwenksville) and sophomore Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) into the individual competition.
In the 149 class, Burns, in his first competition for Penn College, took home third place. At 133, Turner made it to the finals and lost a close match 8-6 while Myers followed suit at 157 with an 11-7 final. Both finished in second place.
Head coach Schuyler Frey was pleased with first-year, team’s progress, “Our guys are starting to show some results of all their hard work and we’ll build on this as we continue to work toward the NCWA National Championships in March.”
The Wildcats return to the mats when they travel to Lock Haven University on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 5:15 p.m. for preliminary bouts.
