WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – In a total show of domination, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team defeated Penn State –New Kensington 2-0 to take home the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship. Senior Seth Rearick (Watsontown/Warrior Run) scored the game winner while freshman Tristan Smith (Bermuda/St. Johnsbury) netted the clincher. In a game where the Wildcats dominated possession, they outshot New Kensington 37 to four. Penn College has earned a berth into the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Championship and will travel to Burlington, Vt. for the tournament.

It was a story of missed chances in the first half as the Wildcats got off shot after shot but could not finish. With only 10 minutes left in the game, Penn College earned a corner kick. Rearick scored off a deflection from the defense to put the team on the board. Just one minute later, Smith would score off a through pass from freshman Cody Sollenberger (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) to seal the victory.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Shaffer (Shermans Dale/West Perry) notched three saves on the afternoon.

The USCAA tournament will begin November 5.
