Freshman Patrick Masango notched two in the semifinal win

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Patrick Masango (Harrisburg/International) netted two to help lift the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Penn State-Brandywine. The game was the Pennsylvania University Athletic Conference Playoff Semifinals matchup. The top seeded Wildcats will now take on Penn State-New Kensington for the championship.

Despite dominating the entire first half, Penn College (13-4, 10-0 PSUAC) gave up the early goal in the fifth minute. Sophomore Cody Sollenberger (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) came in as a substitution and scored the equalizer in the 22nd. The Wildcats would outshoot Brandywine 14-2 in the half, but go into the break tied.

Masango scored the go-ahead-goal in the 81st off a cross from freshman Tristan Smith (Bermuda/Saint Johnsbury). Five minutes later, it was Masango again, this time on his own effort with a laser into the net to seal the victory.

In total, Penn College racked up 31 shots to the Nittany Lions’ four.

The championship match will be played on Saturday, October 30 at 1pm on Varsity Field at Penn College.
