Freshman Keiosha Cooksey had 10 rebounds against the Lions

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team dropped its seventh straight with a 79-56 loss to Penn State Brandywine. Sophomore Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) led the Wildcats with 14 points and 10 rebounds while freshman Tosha Stover (Bellefonte) added 11.

Brandywine (12-8, 9-1 PSUAC) opened with a 13-0 run in the first five minutes. The Wildcats would counter with a 12-3 run, four from sophomore Casey Braun (Hughesville) to bring it to within four with 10:37 left.

Braun finished the game with six.

In the closing minutes of the half, Penn College (7-12, 5-5 PSUAC) committed five turnovers allowing the Lions to get a cushion and go into the break up 42-21. The team committed 24 turnovers in the half.

In the half, the Wildcats shot 7 for 25 (.280) and were out-rebounded 24-23.

Out of the break, Brandywine built its lead to 50-24 before a 10-4 run, four from Stover, from the Wildcats brought it to within 14 with just under 10 minutes left. It was as close as the team would get as the Lions cruised to the victory.

For the game, Penn College shot 21 for 65 (.323) and out-rebounded the Lions 53-52. Also for the Wildcats, freshman Keiosha Cooksey (Harrisburg).

Penn College will next travel to Penn State Beaver on Sunday, Feb. 13 for a noon game.
