WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshmen Hilary Rice (Biglerville) and Tasha Stover (Bellefonte) each netted 10 but it wasn’t enough to help the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team as it fell 39-73.

Two quick layups, one each from freshman Katherine Lisi (Montoursville) and sophomore Casey Braun (Hughesville), gave Penn College the lead out of the gate. It would be short lived as Alfred would counter with a 7-0 run of its own and go on top.

A jumper from freshman Hilary Rice (Biglerville) would bring it to within one in the 15th, but the Saxons would not be deterred and would go on to end the half up 35-15. The Wildcats would shoot 13.3 percent from the field in the half.

It was a tough day in the paint for Penn College (2-3, 0-0 PSUAC) as the team was out-rebounded 58-47 and shot only 20 percent from the field.

Down 20 points after the break, Alfred (2-2, 0-0 Empire 8) went into cruise control scoring 13 unanswered points in the opening minutes. Three players, Lisi, Rice and sophomore Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) would foul out for Penn College digging a deeper hole for the team.

The Wildcats will take a break for Thanksgiving and then host Penn State Hazleton in their first conference game of the season on Wednesday, December 1 at 6 p.m.
