The Wildcats opened up their season with a 75-44 victory over Central Penn
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) notched 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team to a 75-44 routing of Central Penn College in the team's home opener.
The Wildcats started off the game with a 7-0 run, four from Steer. After making two jumpers to end the run, sloppy play from the Knights would allow Penn College to go on a 14-0 run,six from Steer, to go up 21-4 in the 12th. In total, Central Penn would commit 19 turnovers in the half.
Freshman Tosha Stover (Bellefonte) added 10 points and seven rebounds on the night.
Coming out of the break up 35-17, the Wildcats allowed Central Penn to bring it to within 11 in the first five minutes of play. It would be as close as the Knights would get as Penn College would slowly build its lead lead as high as 31 before ending the game 75-44.
As a team, Penn College (1-0, 0-0 PSUAC) shot 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from the line. Turnovers were an issue as the team committed 33 on the evening.
The Wildcats will next travel to local rival Lycoming College on Tuesday, November 16 for a 7pm game.
