WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) notched 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team to an 86-73 win over Penn State Schuylkill. Senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) sank 24 as the team clinches the top spot of the PSUAC North division.

It was a scathing first half with 15 lead changes and 10 ties. The Wildcats went on a 4-0 run, two each from Joiner and senior Nico Italiani (Easton) to take a 14-10 lead with 13:59 remaining. Italiani ended the game with 15 going 3 for 9 from beyond the arc (.333).

Italiani hit a three with 59.6 seconds to make it a four point game. Joiner followed with a jumper to give Penn College (12-12, 11-3 PSUAC) its largest lead of the half at 42-37.

In the half, the Wildcats shot 16 for 38 (.421) and had 20 rebounds to Schuylkill’s (7-8, 8-12 PSUAC) 21.

Out of the break, senior Phil Kaylor (Lebanon) stole a pass and sank a two to give Penn College a 44-37 lead. He ended the game with 10.

Solyak scored seven consecutive points to give the Wildcats a 62-51 lead at 11:24. From there it was all Penn College as the team built its lead and ended the game with a comfortable 86-73 lead.

For the game, the Wildcats shot 35 for 70 (.500) from the floor and had 38 rebounds to Schuylkill’s 46.

Penn College will travel to Penn State Hazleton on Thursday, Feb. 17 for an 8 p.m. game.
