The victory against Brandywine is the Wildcats' third straight
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) scored 25 points and had 22 rebounds to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team to an 86-83 victory over Penn State Brandywine. Senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) added 22 while senior Nico Italiani (Easton) had 13.
Penn College (9-11, 8-2 PSUAC) played tight in the last minute allowing the Lions to make it a one possession game at 86-83 with 30.3 seconds left. The Lions used up the clock without getting off a shot and giving Penn College the victory. In the half, the Lions outscored Penn College 49-36.
As a team, the Wildcats were 37 for 76 (.487) and out-rebounded Brandywine (6-14, 5-6 PSUAC) 55-47.
Penn College was firing on all cylinders right from the start opening with a 17-3 run, five from Italiani. Solyak hit three consecutive baskets to give Penn College the 41-25 lead with 5:35 left.
The Wildcats went into the up 51-34. Eight different players scored in the half with the team shooting 22 for 41 (.537). They out-rebounded Brandywine 25-21.
The Lions fought back in the second, chipping away at the lead and bringing it to a 72-64 game with just under 10 left.
Next up, Penn College will host Penn State Scranton on Wednesday, Feb. 9 for a 7 p.m. game.
