Penn College led 23-19 with just under ten to go in the first half
WILKES BARRE, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team dropped its second straight as it lost 99-63 to Wilkes University. Junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) scored 18 and pulled down seven rebounds in the loss.
In a highly contested first half as senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) opened the game with a layup off a pass from senior Phil Kaylor (Lebanon). He scored the first seven points for the Wildcats giving them a 7-5 lead at 17:46.
A 7-1 run, three from Solyak gave Penn College (6-9) its largest lead of the half at 23-19 with just under ten left. Wilkes would go into the break off a 15-4 run and have a 52-37 lead.
The Wildcats would go 16-37 (.432) from the field. Solyak finished the game with 16.
It was all Wilkes in the second as it slowly increased its lead. Penn College shot 10-26 (.384) from the field and was outscored 47-11.
Also for Penn College, freshman Ethan Kline (Bellefonte) had six assists.
Next, the Wildcats travel to King’s College on Jan. 26 for a 7 p.m. game.
