2010-11 Men's Basketball: PSU Greater Allegheny

The Wildcats out-rebounded Allegheny 40-30
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) sank 22 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology defeated Penn State Greater Allegheny 89-74 Saturday afternoon. It was a total team effort as junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) had 16, senior Phil Kaylor (Lebanon) had 14 and senior Nico Italiani (Easton) added 11.
The Wildcats shot 36-66 (.571) from the field and out-rebounded Allegheny 40-30. Joined notched a double-double with 13 rebounds.
Penn College (5-7, 4-1 PSUAC) opened the game with an 8-2 run, four from Solyak. Back to back buckets from Kaylor would give team a 19-8 advantage at 13:09. Lions would counter with 5-0 run to keep it within six. With five minutes left, Kaylor would hit six consecutive points to give the team a 42-26 lead. Penn College would go into the break up 49-33.
Kaylor would also add six assists on the afternoon.
In the half, the Wildcats would hit 20-37 (.600) and out-rebound the Lions 23-13.
The Wildcats would come out of the break and go on cruise control. A layup from Italiani would give them their largest lead at 86-54 with just under six left. Sloppy play from Penn College would allow the Lions to chip away at the lead and bring it to within eight with only a minute left. They would outscore the Wildcats 41-40 in the half.
For Allegheny, Darius Prince led his team with 22 while Bryan Latney had 10.
Penn College will next travel to Penn State Scranton on Jan. 19 for a 7 p.m. game.
