The Wildcats boasted three different players in double figures against Fayette

UNIONTOWN, Pa. –Three players notched double-doubles as the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team defeated Penn State Fayette 77-64. Junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) led the team in scoring with 25 points and had 10 rebounds while senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) had 17 points and 11 rebounds and senior Nico Italiani (Easton) notched 13 and 10 respectively.

After coming out of the half up 47-30, Penn College (4-6, 3-0 PSUAC) was in cruise control. Fayette (1-10, 1-3 PSUAC) made a small run to bring it to within 13 with two minutes left.

Senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) opened the game with a jumper to put the Wildcats on the board. The next five minutes of play would have six lead changes before a 7-2 run, five from Joiner, would give the team a 20-13 lead at 11:42. Solyak would hit two from the charity stripe with a 1:22 left in the half to give his team the biggest lead of the half 47-27.

As a team, Penn College shot 51 percent from the field and was 11-22 (.510) from the line. The team showed strength in the paint as they out-rebounded the Lions 47-36.

The Wildcats will next travel to Penn State Beaver on Tuesday, Jan 11 for an 8pm conference game.
