Senior Greg Solyak led Penn College with 23 points against Hazleton
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology notched its first conference win of the season 80-65 against Penn State Hazleton Wednesday night. Senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) led all scorers with 23 points while junior Leroy Joiner notched his fifth double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Penn College improves to 1-0 in the PSUAC and 2-4 overall while Hazleton drops its sixth straight loss and is 0-1 in the PSUAC.
Hazleton started off the game with a jumper from Brandon Boekel. It would be the team’s only lead of the game as the Wildcats responded taking a 5-4 lead with 17 left. From there it was run after run as they built up a 24-12 lead with seven left and eventually go into the break up 37-18.
Boekel ended the game with 14 points.
Penn College would go into the break up 37-18 after shooting 58.3 percent from the field. Hazleton struggled at 20 percent. Solyak would hit 14 in the half.
Also for the Wildcats, freshman Bryant House (Troy) had a season high 13 points and seven rebounds.
For Hazleton, Eric Radishofski hit 16 points and nine rebounds
The tempo picked up in the second as the teams traded baskets over the first three minutes. Joiner would hit a jumper at 7:56 to 63-42 to give Penn College its biggest lead of the game.
Next up, the Wildcats will travel to Penn State Mont Alto on Saturday, December 4 for a 3 p.m. game.
