HAZLETON, Pa – The Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team clinched the top spot of the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference with a 2-0 win against Penn State Hazleton. Freshmen Mitch Pequignot (Trout Run/Liberty) and Chris Brennan (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) each netted a goal in the win to improve the Wildcats to 13-2 overall and 9-0 in the PSUAC.

Senior goalkeeper Dan Shaffer (Shermans Dale/West Perry) notched three saves while freshman Cody Curry (Towanda) had four as the two racked up a shared shutout. The Penn College defense allowed only eight shots by the Lions.

Pequignot opened up the scoring in the ninth off a pass from senior Morris Sayon (Upper Darby). Despite many opportunities in the half, it would be the only goal until the 70th minute when Brennan scored from freshman Tristan Smith (Bermuda/International).

As a team, the Wildcats had 30 shots and seven corner kicks.

Penn College will conclude the regular season with a non-conference match on Monday, October 25 at 5 p.m. Since the team has clinched the first seed for the PSUAC playoffs, it will get a bi and will host semifinals on Wednesday, October 27.
