Penn College defenders get set for a free kick
SALEM, W. Va. – Freshman Chris Brennan (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) scored two goals as the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team scored a season high eight goals defeating Salem International University 8-1. This is the Wildcat’s sixth straight win as they improve to 9-2 overall.
Freshman Tristan Smith (Bermuda, FF/International) opened up the scoring in the first minute off a pass from freshman Joseph Rumsey (Langhorne/Holy Ghost). Brennan would go on to score the next two goals in the 7th and 29th minute both assisted by Smith. Rumsey scored the final goal of the first half in the 31st minute from Smith.
In the second half, junior Patrick Kehoe (Oley) kept the offense going scoring a penalty kick in 51st. The Wildcats are now two for two in penalty kicks on the season.
Freshman Alec Elam (Naples, N.Y./Naples) scored his second goal of the season from freshman Mitchell Pegquignot (Trout Run/Liberty). Freshman Cody Sollenberger (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley) netted one in the 71st from Gavin MacTarnaghan (Hughesville) while freshman Godwin Omo-Ekpadi (Norristown) closed out the game in the 76th.
Senior goalkeeper Daniel Shaffer (Shermans Dale/West Perry) had two saves on the afternoon.
Next up, Penn College will travel to Penn State-Beaver for a 4pm match on Saturday, Oct 2.
