The Wildcats have one more conference game before PSUAC playoffs
UNIONTOWN, Pa. – Junior Garrett Hornung (Emporium) racked up four hits and an RBI as the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team split with Penn State Fayette Wednesday. The Wildcats dropped the first game 4-1 but came back to dominate and win 7-0 in the second. Penn College improves to 19-8 overall and 10-6 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
In game two, freshman Jarod Bull (Jacobus) pitched seven scoreless with seven strikeouts and only one hit. Penn College scored four in the fifth capped off by a two-run home run from junior Skylar Gingrich (Lititz).
Sophomore Tyler Rice (Trumbull, Conn.) executed the perfect suicide squeeze in the sixth to score sophomore Josh Longsderff (Columbia). Sophomore Thomas Hughes also hit an RBI single in the inning.
Hornung finished the game with two doubles and an RBI while Hughes also had two hits and added a stolen base.
In game one, Longsderff pitched all seven innings striking out 12 and gave up only one earned run. The Wildcat defense committed three errors in the game allowing Fayette to score three in the first two innings. Hughes hit a solo shot in the sixth in the team’s only run of the game. Horning had two hits in the game including a double.
Penn College travels to Penn State Beaver on Thur., April 27 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
