Freshman Chris Brennan notched a goal in the 3-2 loss

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s soccer team dropped its season opener to Penn State Abington 3-2 Wednesday night. Strikers Chris Brennan (New Hope/New Hope-Solebury) and Tristan Smith (Bermuda/Saint Johnsbury) scored the two goals for the Wildcats as they open the season 0-1 overall.

The Lions struck first in the 36th off a fast break. It was the same story three minutes later as they went into the half up 2-0. Brennan and Smith would score consecutively in the 64th and 67th to even, but Abington scored the game winner in the 74th to clinch the victory.

Penn College was outshot 15-12 and had four corner kicks to Abington's five.

Senior keeper Dan Shaffer (Shermans Dale/West Perry) had four saves on the afternoon in the loss.

Next up, the Wildcats travel to Penn State York to take on the defending Penn State University Athletic Conference defending champions on Saturday, September 4 at 3pm.
