The Lady Wildcats will get right back into action tonight at 7 p.m.
AKRON, Ohio – Committing four errors and allowing five unearned runs, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team lost 8-0 in five innings to No. 2 Lindenwood-Belleville Tuesday at the United States Collegiate Athletics Association (USCAA) Small College World Series. The Lady Wildcats had a tough day at the plate with sophomore Karey Wolfe (Milton) the only player to record a hit in the game. With the loss, the team falls to 19-13 overall and will have to fight its way back in the loser’s bracket of the double elimination tournament.
Freshman Brianne Brewer (Jersey Shore) started the game pitching the first four innings before being pulled in the bottom of the fifth. Lindenwood-Belleville plated two runs off of her in the first off two hits. Two errors in the third allowed them to tack on three more runs making it a 5-0 game.
After the Lynx scored two more runs in the fifth, sophomore Kimberly Walter (Beavertown) came in relief and was able to get two outs before Lindenwood-Belleville scored its final run to end it early.
Brewer ended the game allowing three earned runs off of right hits with a strikeout.
The Lady Wildcats’ best opportunity to score came in the first when Wolfe led the inning off with an infield single. She stole second with two outs to get into scoring position, but was unable to advance further.
Penn College will now face the winner of No. 4 Carlow University and No. 9 Concordia College later tonight at 7 p.m.
