ALLEN, Texas – Pennsylvania College of Technology sophomore Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) needed only one more win to qualify for the All-American rounds at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships but came up just short losing by fall to Eric Dietz of Grand Valley State. Frankenfield, the last Penn College wrestler left in the double elimination tournament, carried a 2-1 lead into the second period but was unable to hold off Dietz. He finishes the tournament leading the Wildcats with a 4-2 record.

Freshman Mason Replogle (New Enterprise) won his opening match of the day against Liberty’s Josh Sanders recording a 6-3 decision in the 141 match. Joshua Gaspard of Georgia Southern ended his tournament later with a 20-8 major decision.

At 157, freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) was pinned at the buzzer by Dylan Husserl of University of Florida while freshman Joe Champluvier (Laceyville) was pinned by Devin Webber of Wichita in 2:55. At 197, Carl Brown of Auburn took down freshman Michael Failla (Beach Lake) in 43 seconds.

Penn College will wait to see where it placed in the overall team standings after the championship rounds on Saturday.
