Kelvin Dewalt and Kendel Baier took first in the mixed bowhunter competition

HARRISONBURG, Va. – With a total of seven first place finishes, the Pennsylvania College of Technology archery team opened its outdoor season with a strong showing at James Madison University’s Adam Wheatcroft Memorial Tournament this past weekend. Taking gold in the individual competitions was senior Kelvin Dewalt (Easton) for men’s bowhunter, junior Kendel Baier (Jersey Shore) for women’s bowhunter and freshman Cody Wolfe (Tioga) for men’s compound. The Wildcats also topped the field in the team competition for men’s compound and women’s bowhunter. Dewalt and Baier paired up to win the mixed bowhunter competition as did juniors Justus Leimbach (Westminster, Md.) and Nicole Lapinski (Bloomsburg) for mixed compound.

Also for Penn College, Lapinski took silver for women’s individual compound. Taking bronze was sophomore Greggory Foust (Murrysville) in men’s recurve, sophomore Markus Weber (La Plata, Md.) in men’s compound and freshman Courtney Deshong (McConnellsburg) in women’s bowhunter.

Next up, Penn College travels to the University of Connecticut for the Eastern Regional Intercollegiate Archery Championships on Friday, Apr. 18.
