Josh Longderff recorded the win improving to 2-0 on the season

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Junior Zachary Buterbaugh (Conestoga) came up just shy of the cycle recording two singles, a double and triple as the Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team defeated West Virginia – Wesleyan 13-5 Wednesday night. Buterbaugh’s four hits contributed to the 15-hit effort by the Wildcats competing on day four of the Ripken Experience Spring Break Tournament in Myrtle Beach. Senior Joshua Longsderff (Columbia) recorded the win for the team allowing five hits, three earned runs and five strikeouts. The win improves Penn College to 5-1 overall.

Junior Zachary Weil (Kutztown) put the Wildcats on the board in the first with a two-run bomb. He finished the game with two hits.

After Wesleyan scored three to take the lead in the second, Penn College rallied for two in the third including an RBI single from freshman Tanner Kibe (Reedsville). The team tacked on seven runs in the fourth off of seven hits. Sophomore Rantz Mahaffey (Linden) had the big hit of the inning with a two-RBI triple.

Wesleyan capitalized on some errors in the fifth to score its final two runs, while the Wildcats plated a run in both the fifth and sixth to seal the victory.

Freshman Christopher Glunk (Jersey Shore) pitched 1 2/3 of near perfect allowing only a walk. Buterbaugh closed the game out in the final inning notching two strikeouts.

Penn College closes out the tournament taking on Sauck Valley Community College at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 13.
