The Lady Wildcats advance to take on No. 2 Lindenwood-Belleville

AKRON, Ohio – Taking down No. 7 New Hampshire Technical Institute 6-2, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball advanced in the winner’s bracket at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Small College World Series Monday. Freshman Arika Stopper (Williamsport) recorded the win allowing two earned runs off of eight hits with eight strikeouts. Freshman Macie Lucas (Reedsville) led the offense with two hits and two RBI as the team improves to 19-12 overall. The Lady Wildcats will take on No. 2 Lindenwood-Belleville later tonight at 8 p.m.

A solo shot in the second put NHTI up a run early. Batting through the line up in the third, the Lady Wildcats plated five including RBI singles from Lucas and sophomores Rachael Shaeffer (Hampstead, Md.) and Nicole Lo Furno (Glen Mills).

Shaeffer ended the game with two hit and two runs.

With the game 5-2 in the sixth, Shaeffer led the innings with a double to right. Lucas then sacrificed her over and an error allowed Shaeffer to score making it 6-2.

Stopper cruised through the next inning with the help of some strong defensive plays to get the win.

As a team, the Lady Wildcats totaled 10 hits with sophomore Alexandra Brennan (Saint Clair) adding two.

A total of 10 teams are entered in the double-elimination tournament that runs through to May 14.
