Mason Replogle qualified for nationals notched four wins and two pins

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –With 14 teams and 99 wrestlers in attendance, the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team took sixth overall as they hosted the Mid-East Conference Championships Saturday. University of Maryland – Baltimore County took first place for the second straight year with Penn State Mont-Alto taking second. Leading Penn College was sophomore Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) who place third at 174. Frankenfield rallied after a first round loss to win five straight matches including two pins. In total, six Wildcat wrestlers qualified to move on to the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships in Allen, Texas.

Out the qualifiers, freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) took fourth at 157 totaling three wins and a pin while freshman Joe Champluvier (Laceyville) took fifth in the same class starting off his three win day with two pins. Also taking fifth was freshman Mason Replogle (New Enterprise) going 4-2 with two pins at 141 and freshman Michael Failla (Beach Lake) at 197 with three wins and a pin.

Freshman Patrick Fitzgerald (Port Royal) earned a wildcard slot at 197 notching a win on the day.

The qualifying wrestlers will get a short break before heading to Texas on Wednesday, Mar. 12.
