The Wildcats placed six on the podium for the invitational

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – With over 75 wrestlers from nine teams competing Sunday at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Penn State University Athletic Conference Invitational, the Pennsylvania College of Technology placed six wrestlers on the podium helping the team to a sixth place finish. Freshman Patrick Fitzgerald (Port Royal) had the best finish of the day taking third place in the 197 division recording two pins and a tech fall on a 3-1 day. Also placing were freshmen Aaron Doll (Glen Rock) and Joe Champluvier (Laceyville) who each took fourth at 125 and 157, respectively. Junior Kyle Sunseri (Athens) took sixth at 149 as did sophomore Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) at 174 and freshman Michael Failla (Beach Lake) at 197.

Taking the top spot in the team competition was The Apprentice School with USCAA newcomer Alfred State College second and West Virginia Tech rounding out the top three.

The event also served as the PSUAC Championships with Penn State Mont Alto capturing its first conference championship. Penn State DuBois took second and the Wildcats claimed third. Individually, Fitzgerald, Doll and Champluvier all finished ahead of their PSUAC competitor's claiming PSUAC individual championships and a spot as first-team, all-conference. Sunseri rounded out all-conference honors earning second-team status.

Next up, Penn College travels to West Chester University on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 7 p.m. match.
