Three points in the first half from Chelsea Burger helped the Lady Wildcats bring the game to within five

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Charese Bova (Beech Creek) notched 14 points and 17 rebounds recording a double-double as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team lost 64-50 to SUNY Morrisville Thursday. The Lady Wildcats’ offense was streaky throughout the match going on strong runs but never getting consistent enough to get a lead. The loss now drops to the team to 2-9 overall.

Morrisville jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the early minutes of play. A layup from Bova stopped the surge. Down 19-2, Penn College started to make its shot going on a 13-1 run, three from freshman Chelsea Burger (Millersburg), to bring the game within five with just over three to go in the half.

Morrisville went into the break up 32-17, scoring 12 points in the remaining three minutes. For the half, Penn College shot 8-26 (.308) from the field compared to Morrisville’s 13-36 (.333).

In the second half, down 36-19, the Lady Wildcats slowly chipped away and a three from sophomore Danielle Mowery (Shamokin) brought the game to 36-27 just under the 14 minute mark. Morrisville stayed strong offensively and built up its lead to as high 19 before ending the game with a 14 point victory margin.

For the game, Penn College shot 18-62 (.290) from the field and totaled 47 rebounds. Sophomore Niesha Williams (Loyalsock Twp.) recorded seven rebounds and eight points to help in the cause while junior Allison Van Metter (Saylorsburg) had five and eight, respectively.

The Lady Wildcats next host Penn State Fayette on Saturday, Jan. 11 for a 1 p.m. game.
