Thomas Ross sank 12 points in the loss
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn State Mont Alto scored 51 points in the second half to defeat the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team 82-56 Wednesday. The Wildcats had the game tied in the early minutes of the second half but some key runs by the Lions allowed the game to slip of their hands. Freshman Thomas Ross (Williamsport) led Penn College with 16 points, 12 of which came from threes. With the loss, the Wildcats now fall to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
Freshman Robert Beckett (Belfast) opened the game with a three but the lead was short lived as Mont Alto went on a 7-0 run. The Wildcats continued to pepper in threes in the half while Mont Alto built its lead, taking a 20-9 lead in the 8th.
Penn College ended the half on an 11-2 run, five from Ross to go into the break down only 31-26.
In the second back-to-back buckets capped off by a three from Ross tied the game at 31. From there it was all the Lions as they went on a 9-0 run to make it 40-31.
Mont Alto’s biggest lead came in the 7th with a 74-42 lead before the Wildcat’s bench stepped up in the closing minutes close the gap to 26.
For the game, the Wildcats outrebounded Mont Alto 44-41 with freshman Ezra Adams (Muncy) leading with seven. They also notched 12 assists with freshman Marquis Delgado (Mansfield) notching five.
Penn College next hosts Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday, Dec. 7 for a 3 p.m. game
