With the wins, Penn College improves to 9-4 in the PSUAC

HAZLETON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s volleyball team swept a Penn State University Athletic Conference quad match Saturday. The Lady Wildcats defeated Penn State Beaver and Penn State New Kensington both 3-0. With the wins, the team improves to 10-16 overall and 9-4 in the PSUAC.

Penn College opened with Penn State Beaver winning 25-15, 25-17, 25-23. The team totaled 40 kills with junior Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) and sophomore Loralee Lindemuth (Tidioute) combining for 20 of them. Freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) totaled 28 assists and senior Rachel Heller (Allison Park) added 13 digs.

Against New Kensington, the Lady Wildcats swept 25-15, 25-19, 25-7 hitting a season high .636 (14-22) in set three. Gernert led with 18 kills while Lindemuth was strong with 11. Aviles totaled 29 kills while Heller once again led with 13 digs.

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Fayette and Penn State Greater Allegheny for a conference quad match starting at 9 a.m.
