Tyler Myers went 4-0 with four pins

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team tied for third at the Electric City Duals hosted by the University of Scranton Saturday. UMBC took first place going 4-0 with The Apprentice School in second with a 3-1 record. Host Scranton, Penn State DuBois and Penn College all went 1-3 putting them all in the third place spot. Individually, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall) had an outstanding day going 4-0 pinning all his opponents. Sophomore Logan Gresock (Copley, Ohio) also had a perfect day going 4-0 with three pins.

Penn College (0-4-1) took on Dubois in the opener losing 27-12. At 165, Myers pinned Shane Alterio at 4:55 while Gresock had a 9-6 decision against Steven Terwilliger at 184. Also, freshman Aaron Shrawder took his 235 bout against Aguilar Garibay in an 8-2 decision.

It was the same trio scoring points for the Wildcats in the 32-18 loss against Apprentice. Myers pinned Kyle Spruill for the second time this year at 157. Shrawder also pinned at 235 in a quick time of 1:50. Gresock had a tight match at 197 just edging his opponent 9-6.

Against a formidable UMBC, both Myers and Gresock pinned their opponents at 157 and 197 respectively. Penn College lost the match 32-18.

In the final match against Scranton, the Wildcats tied 23-23 but ultimately gained a point for the tournament by the tiebreaker of the most pins. Notching wins in the match were freshmen Wade Jacobson (Alexandria, Va.) and Timothy Kuntz (Wyalusing). Both earned decisions at 141 and 149 respectively. After another pin from Myers, sophomore Austin Clark (Elysburg) recorded a tech fall in his 165 match. Gresock recorded the last win in the match with a pin at 184.

Next up, the Wildcats travel to UMBC on Wednesday, Nov. 14 for a 7 p.m. match
