Nathaniel Brown scored a season high 17 points
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Nathanial Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a season high 17 points as the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team lost 94-56 to top-ranked Rochester College (Mich.) Monday. Brown shot 7-10 (.700) from the field including going 3-4 (.750) from beyond the arc. Also in double figures was sophomore Christopher Carrington (Ridley Park) who notched 10. The loss drops Penn College to 1-11 overall.
Sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City) opened the game with a layup to give the Wildcats the early lead. Three more ties occurred before Rochester (14-3) went on a 7-0 run in the 17th to take a 13-6 lead.
Fenton finished the game with eight.
Penn College then battled and a layup from sophomore Jason Greenfield (Wellsboro) brought the game to within three at 14:33. The Warriors countered and went on a run building up the lead to as high as 31 before going into the break up 50-22.
Rochester put things on cruise control in the second half with Marvin Stokes hitting a three at 3:36 to give the team its largest lead of the game at 92-47.
As a team, the Wildcats totaled 34 rebounds and shot 24-59 (.407) from the field. Sophomore Colton Acorn (Wellsboro) led the team with four rebounds.
For the Warriors, Drew Maynard led all scorers with 24 while Stavros Schizas was close behind with 22.
Next up, the Penn College takes a break for the holidays before getting back into action on Saturday, Jan. 12 for a 3 p.m. game against Penn State Greater Allegheny.
