Freshman Christopher Carrington had eight points in the loss

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Facing a strong shooting Penn State Hazleton, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team fell 77-61 in the team’s Penn State University Athletic Conference opener. Sophomore Jason Greenfield (Wellsboro) led the Wildcats with 16 points while sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City) and Colton Acorn (Wellsboro) and freshman Christopher Carrington (Ridley Park) each adding 11. The loss drops to the team to 0-1 in the PSUAC and 1-5 overall.

Down 40-28 at the half, slowly chipped away at the lead and with a jumper from Acorn at 10:40 took a 53-52 advantage. The Lions came back and took advantage of some strong three point shooting taking back the lead and building it to as high as 17.

Hazleton went 12-30 (.400) from beyond the arc with Diego Jimenez hitting six totaling 18 points in the game. Also strong was Miguel Rodriguez with 24 points, leading all scorers.

Out of the gate, both teams struggled with shooting with the Lions getting on the board first with 18 minutes left. Penn College kept it close all period with Greenfield closing out the half with a jumper keeping it to within 10.

For the game, Penn College outrebounded the Lions 46-37 with junior Bryant House (Columbia Cross Roads) leading with eight.

The Wildcats will look to change their luck when they travel to Penn State Mont Alto for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 1.
