Jason Greenfield led with nine points in the game
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomore Jason Greenfield (Wellsboro) led with nine points, but the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team fell 104-50 to Susquehanna University in the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament opening round. The Wildcats struggled in the first half scoring only 15 points and allowing the Crusaders to build a big lead. The loss drops Penn College to 0-2 overall.
Freshman Christopher Carrington (Ridley Park) opened up the game sinking two from the free throw line giving the Wildcats the early lead. After Susquehanna went on an 8-0 run, junior Bryant House (Columbia Cross Roads) hit a three followed by a layup from sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City) to bring it to within one at 15:05.
House ended the game with seven points while Fenton had four.
In the 10th, the Crusaders went on a 24-0 run to make it 42-10 with sophomore Jesse Newman (Waterfall) stopping the offensive barage with a jumper at 3:24.
Newman finished with four points and led the team with eight boards.
Susquehanna ended the half with back-to-back threes going into the break up 54-15. In the half, the Wildcts had 22 turnovers and shot .182 (4-22) from the field. They outrebounded Susquehanna 22-16.
Penn College improved its offense in the second half more than doubling its total from the first. Down 71-23, the team put together a 7-0 run, four from House to make it 71-28 with just over 13 left. Greenfield came on strong in the half scoring seven.
For the game, the Wildcats shot .296 (16-54) from the field and .750 (15-20) from the free through line. They finished the game with 43 rebounds to Susquahanna's 35.
Next up, Penn College will take on Montclair State in the consolation game on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.
