Fenton led Penn College with 14 points and 10 rebounds
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Despite 14 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City), the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team lost 56-47 to Pitt-Titusville in its home opener. The Wildcats had a three point lead with 10 minutes remaining but could not hold on as Pitt-Titusville capitalized on missed field goals to climb back for the victory.
In the opening half, Penn College (0-1) sophomore Colton Acorn (Wellsboro) hit a layup at 15:55 to give his team a 3-2 lead. The Panthers would build to a seven point lead in the half before going into the break up 24-19.
Acorn finished the game with two points and eight rebounds.
Out of halftime, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run, three from junior Ethan Kline (Bellefonte) to take a 29-26 lead with 10:23 remaining. Pitt-Titusville started to hit some shots and overtook the lead going on a 10-0 run, all from Hiree Peoples to take a 50-40 lead and put it out of reach.
Peoples ended the game with 30 points while Kline had 12.
For the game, Penn College had some trouble in the field shooting 16-74 (.216). The Panthers also out-rebounded them 65-46.
Also for the Wildcats, junior Bryan House (Columbia Cross Roads) had 10 rebounds.
Next up, Penn College travels to Susquehanna University for the Pepsi Tipoff on Friday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.
