Coach Bruno has been at the head of Penn College men’s basketball since its inception in 1995. The longest running coach of the athletics staff, Bruno’s teams have an overall record of 138-205 (.402). He has also taken his team to five postseason appearances and coached numerous All-Conference and All-American award recipients.
In 2009, Bruno took his team to the USCAA national tournament and was ranked sixth in the country. The following year, the team was runner-up in the PSUAC Men’s Basketball Conference Championship.
Bruno began coaching at Milton Middle School as the seventh and eighth grade boys team head coach. From 1990-93 he was the head coach of the boys varsity squad at Lewisburg Area High School. He made the leap to the collegiate level in 1993 serving as an assistant to the men’s team at Lycoming University.
Bruno is a graduate of Bucktail High School in Renovo, Pa. He lettered in basketball and was a 1,000 point scorer for the program. From there, he went to Buck County Community College in Newtown, Pa. before transferring to The College of New Jersey (then Trenton State University). He majored in Health and Physical Education and lettered in basketball at both institutions before ultimately graduating from TCNJ with his Bachelor’s in 1974.
Bruno resides in Milton, Pa. with his wife Tracy. They have a daughter Shauna and son Nick. Outside of his coaching duties, he works as a Physical Education teacher at Milton Middle School.
