Adam Matter makes his debut as head coach of the Penn College men’s soccer team for the 2013 season. He comes to Penn College with significant experience assisting NCAA Division II and III programs.
In his first season, Matter coached the team to a 14-5 overall record and was named the PSUAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.
Matter is a native of the area hailing from Montoursville. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) where he was a member of the men’s soccer club team. He graduated in 2010 with a degree in Physical Education & Sport/Exercise Science.
In his last three years at IUP, Matter assisted the varsity women’s soccer team, leading team practice sessions, generating scouting reports, and training goalkeepers. In that time, the team made it to three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) playoffs and an NCAA Division II sweet sixteen appearance.
After relocating back to the area, Matter was named the assistant coach for the Lycoming College women’s soccer team. In his two years there, he headed recruiting efforts, monitored team academics, organized team travel and developed weight and conditioning programs on top of coaching duties.
Outside of Penn College, Matter is a high school referee. He currently resides in Montoursville.
