Matt Haile

Coach Haile has been the head of Penn College golf since 2009.  In that time, he has led a team that has had seven All-Conference players and one All-American. 

In Haile’s first year at the helm of the program, the Wildcats finished third in the PSUAC and fourth in the USCAA.  In his second year, they improved to second in the PSUAC and were fifth in the USCAA.  In 2011, the Wildcats won four invitationals and placed third in the PSUAC Championships and seventh in the USCAA tournament.

2012 marked the first time Haile was named PSUAC Coach of the Year. His team that year won the regular season championship winning three invitationals during the season.  The team placed second at the PSUAC Championships and eighth in the USCAAs.

In 2013, Haile had one of his strongest rosters winning four PSUAC Invitationals and coaching three all-conference winners and one PSUAC Champion in Corey Teeple.

As a three-year letter winner for Penn College, Haile was the PCAA Golf Champion and Most Valuable Player in 2003.  As a freshman, he placed second in the PCAA.  After Penn College moved to the PSUAC, he was able to compete again and placed second in the conference his senior year.

Haile graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Data Communications and Networking in addition to an Associate’s in Networking and Technical Support.  In October of 2010, Penn College honored him with the Outstanding Varsity Athletic Alumni Award.

Haile has been an avid golfer since the age of 12.  He competed for Shikellamy High School.   A member of the Bucknell Golf Club, Haile still competes in local tournaments. 

Haile resides in Lewisburg, Pa.  Outside of coaching, he works as a Network Specialist at Penn College.
