Freshman women's soccer student-athlete Reda Vermilya was named the Penn College Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 2.

As starting goalkeeper for the Lady Wildcats, Vermilya led the team with 11 saves in its 4-1 season-opening win over Baptist Bible College. Vermilya held the Defenders scoreless over the first half as her teammates gave her a 3-0 cushion. The Defenders outshot Penn College in the second half, but Vermilya made some key saves to keep her team on top. Vermilya and the Wildcats next host Rosemont College on Wednesday, Sept. 5 for a 7 p.m. match.
