Transfer Student Placement Testing

One way to meet placement requirements at Penn College is by transferring in courses that demonstrate adequate skills in the placement areas: math, reading, and English. As a transfer student, chances are that you have taken courses which will exempt you from one or all of the placement tests.

If your course work at another institution is sufficient to exempt you from the entire battery of placement tests, you will receive a letter informing you of your exempt status and inviting you to your Pre-Enrollment Advising Session.

If transferred courses have exempted you from some but not all of the placement tests, your letter will tell you that you are required to take certain parts of the test, give your test date, and tell you how long you can expect to be on campus; the academic profile you receive from the Office of Admissions will indicate the tests from which you have been exempted.

Placement Test Exemption Notifications

All students are given placement test dates and receive notification letters upon acceptance into the College. After your transcript evaluation has been completed by the Office of Admissions, if you have been exempted from one or more of the tests, you will receive a new letter with updated testing information.
