Q: Is Penn College accredited?
A: Yes. Pennsylvania College of Technology, an affiliate of the Pennsylvania State University, is a fully accredited member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools at the bachelor degree, associate degree and certificate levels. In addition, many academic schools and majors hold individual accreditations.
Q: What is the difference between a non-degree and a degree-seeking student?
A: A non-degree student is one who is not enrolled in a degree or certificate major. Non-degree students can select courses without regard to degree or certificate requirements assuming they have met the prerequisites for the course. If the prerequisites were met at a college other than Penn College, official transcripts will need to be sent to the Admissions Office for evaluation prior to enrollment. Non-degree students may register for no more than six credits per semester and are not eligible for financial aid. Students will earn credit for all coursework completed as a non-degree student. There is no application fee for a non-degree application and high school transcripts/official GED scores are not required.
Q: May I change my status from a non-degree to a degree-seeking student?
A: Yes. If and when non-degree students wish to transfer to degree-seeking status, simply complete the degree application process. The rules in effect for degree-seeking students will then apply. Any credits earned as a non-degree student will then be evaluated to determine if they fulfill graduation requirements for the chosen degree. The College recommends that non-degree status be reviewed upon completion of 15 credits.
Q: May I contact the Admissions Office to check on the status of my application?
A: The quickest way to check on your status is through the Penn College Student Information System. When you apply, you will be sent a student ID number and PIN that will give you immediate access to your application. You will be able to track the status of your application, review your placement test information, see your tuition bill, etc. Students have found this service to be tremendously useful and efficient.

Q: Do I still need to request official high school transcripts or GED scores?
A: No. These are not required for non-degree applicants.
Q: Am I allowed to have a car?
A: Yes! Everyone is allowed to have a car on campus. You will, however, need to purchase a parking permit from Penn College Police.
