Words of Wisdom...
from a Data Communications & Networking student. (Summer 2006)
My name is Mark Villecco, and I am a recent graduate of Pennsylvania College
of Technology. I've earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Communications
and Networking.
Choosing a college can be one of the most stressful and important decisions you will ever have to make. When faced with the decision myself, I searched for schools that offered a program most suited to what I wanted to study. While I concentrated my college search primarily on the types of majors offered, I also knew that I didn’t want to live in a typical college dormitory. I was attracted to Penn College initially by the apartment style on-campus housing, in addition to a curriculum that focused specifically on my intended area of concentration, with major classes included in the first semester of the program.
While visiting Penn College during its Spring Open House, I took notice of the inviting and modern campus, as well as the small size of the classrooms. Professors from my major were available to answer any questions I had about the curriculum, and admissions staff were also willing to address any concerns I had about the enrollment process. After taking advantage of the opportunities at the open house to meet many of the friendly faculty and staff, as well as take a tour of on-campus housing, I decided to apply right then and there.
When considering all the factors involved in college selection, it is important to recognize that often times a school may just “feel right” to you. Perhaps you will make your decision based on a number of quantifiable criteria; or conversely, you may find yourself inexplicably drawn towards a particular school for intangible reasons. More likely, you will see that a combination of both circumstances will help contribute to your final selection.
Hopefully I have been insightful, and furthermore I would like to wish you the best of luck on all your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Mark Villecco
2006 Graduate
