Tips for Success – Study Habits
[Success Tips] [Time Management] [Study Habits] [Dealing With Test Anxiety] [SQ3R] [Math Tips] [Weekly Planner]
- Study in an area where there are as few distractions as possible.
- If noise bothers you, try using a fan or some other machine to block out sound.
- Learning is sometimes difficult, but remember your long-term goals!
- Review lecture notes and study resources periodically. Avoid cramming.
- Mnemonics can help you remember. Acronyms, such as Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally, (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction) used for the order of operations in algebra, are a good example. Use whatever works!
- Accept the consequences if you don't make studying a priority.
- Take short breaks when you study for long periods, especially when you switch from one subject to another.
- Homework is assigned to help you understand the material. Keeping up-to-date on your homework will make you better prepared for class and exams.
