What is Summer PLUS?
Summer PLUS, formerly called COPing/Bridge, is a five-week summer program designed to assist highly motivated, incoming students to succeed in college. PLUS provides non-credit instruction in math, English, and reading, which prepares and allows students to retake their placement exams during the final week of PLUS. The vast majority of students retest in math; 67% of those who did so during PLUS 2003 improved enough to move to a higher level of math. In addition to academic remediation, PLUS offers an orientation to the campus and college life, instruction in study skills, and social and cultural activities. An introductory computer class is also provided for students with limited computer skills.
