Keynote Speaker, David Ganss: "The Future is Here: Trends in Transportation Technology, Energy, and the Environment"

David Ganss is a Technology Advisor specializing in advanced vehicle propulsion technologies in the Transportation and Climate Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality.  OTAQ’s mission is to reconcile transportation and the environment by advancing clean fuels and technology and promoting sustainable transportation policies.  OTAQ establishes national emission standards for all vehicles and engines sold in the United States, carries out real-world and laboratory testing programs to ensure compliance with emissions and fuel economy standards, and works with state and local governments on strategies to reduce transportation emissions.  David is responsible for analyzing and evaluating advanced transportation technologies to help inform policy makers and the public about their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependency.  Before joining EPA in 2004, he worked on advanced powertrains at Chrysler for 12 years, focusing on technologies to reduce emissions and fuel consumption, and reverse-engineering of competitive vehicles.  David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit and lives near Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife and three wonderful children.
