Free Antivirus Software
A special licensing agreement permits students to download and install Symantec AntiVirus on their personally owned computers and laptops. The downloads are available from the Information Technology Services Department site on the myPCT Portal (login required) and require a network user name and password.
Faculty in certain technology and design majors enroll their students in the MSDN Academic Alliance program, which provides a simple, economical way for students to purchase the Microsoft software they need to complete their course work.
The College also makes various freeware downloads, such as Core FTP lite, available on the ITS department site of the myPCT Portal.
Computer and Software Discount Programs
Penn State Computer Store
Penn College students and employees are permitted to order computer hardware and software from Penn State's Computer Store at considerable discounts. Students and employees are eligible for these discounts as long as they remain a student or employee. When that association ends, the Computer Store account will be disabled.
Other Discount Programs
Through a special purchasing arrangements, other software discounts are available to students in particular majors. The advisers and faculty in those areas will inform the students of these discount programs as the software is required in the curriculum.
